I’m obsessed with Walk Off the Earth’s new song, “Rule the World’. It’s catchy. More than that, it makes me smile. How can you not like a song that talks about overcoming your fears and breaking down the walls that stand between you and your dreams?
When you’ve got a big dream in your heart – a goal you want to achieve or just something that you really, really want to do – there are going to be obstacles. There are going to be bumps in the road, unexpected detours, and walls that threaten to derail your plans.
They’ll say you’re crazy
And then there’s all the people that will tell you it can’t be done. That you’re crazy to even try. That no one can do what you want to do. That you just don’t have the experience to make it happen. (“Have you ever done anything like this before? What makes you think you can actually pull it off???”)
Toss all that in with the demons inside your own mind that tell you all the same things – and worse! – and you start to understand why so many dreams end up getting lost in the dust.
But you know what? It doesn’t have to be that way.
Each and every one of us has the power within us to say: “To hell with this; I’m going to make it happen, NO MATTER WHAT!” And to then DO IT.
You don’t need permission
You don’t need permission from anyone else to build your dreams. They are YOUR dreams, and YOU are the one calls the shots when it comes to making them a reality.
Decide what you want, then go out there and make it happen. You do it one step at a time, one puzzle piece at a time, knock over one wall at a time. And you just keep going until you get there.
And that’s why I love this song so much. I don’t see it as some power-hungry desire to actually become the ruler of the world. To me, it’s the concept of becoming the ruler of your own world – the creator of your own reality. There’s a whole lotta LOA in those words.
No room for fear
It’s a reminder that if we want to build our dreams, there’s no room for fear. We’re allowed to feel that fear, but we cannot let it block our path. When we feel it pushing us back, we need to side-step it. Go over; go around; go under; or go through. But don’t let it keep you from getting to where you want to be.
See yourself in the reality you want. Feel it with every fibre of your being. Believe that it is for you, and that it is on its way. And be ready to reach out and grab it when the opportunity lands.
Rule your world
Last week, I published the landing page for my brand-new book; it’s called fearLESS: How to Conquer Your Fear, Stop Playing Small, and Start Living an Extraordinary Life You Love, and it’s out on January 12th, 2016.. Despite the setbacks and all the delays, it’s finally happening! Check out the video trailer and let me know what you think!
More and more, it’s becoming clear to me that I’m going to have to push myself even further out of my comfort zone if I want to make my dreams a reality. I need to take more risks and put myself out there more. 2016 is definitely going to be interesting, people…
I’m not afraid of the walls anymore.
I’m going to break ‘em all down.
And here’s my challenge to you: Let’s all make the coming year about breaking down the walls between us and our biggest dreams; let’s, all of us, make 2016 the year that everything happened!
Are you with me? ♥

Is that a Canadian group? They did a cover of another popular song “Somebody I used to know” which was awesome!
I was thinking that there is no such thing as failure and I have no idea how it got so ingrained in social consciousness like that. It is a falsity and even masters use the phrase “I have not yet succeeded” instead of the F word, because there just isn’t any failure. It is just not black and white and to say so just shows that one really does not get it. We are Universal force, Spirit, and that does not fail, so that is pretty straight forward is it not? I think when we compare ourselves to others, which our Inner Being knows better not to, we get off track like that, but we can easily get re-aligned by just focusing on our stuff and what we want to come into being. Besides, why compare? We are not all the same and we go by our own timeline, not anyone else’s. The Universe has no timeline anyway and it is not a race. These trillions of billions of years may be just an hour to Spirit, if any.
The book sounds great!
Yes, they are a Canadian group. 🙂 Good example of how there are many ways of making dreams come true, actually. They made a name for themselves on their own, without being signed by a record label, which I love. Gives me hope for my new book (and thanks for the compliment… I’m super-excited about this one)!
I like “I have not yet succeeded”, but you know what I like even more? “I am in the process of creating my success!”. I’ve got a whole chapter on fear of failure in the book, actually. And I completely agree with you — we get ourselves off track so easily when we listen to our fears instead of our inner wisdom. Fears are loud; that little voice inside of you is quiet… in order to hear it, we have to give ourselves time and space to listen.
Oh, Nathalie, I LOVE IT!
Already even the promo for the book was inspiring me. I can’t wait to buy a copy when it comes out.
Very proud of you for staying the course and continuing your journey–that in itself encourages me to keep going.
Thank you Ayla. 🙂 So glad this journey is inspiring others. Definitely keep going… I want to hear your success story one day! (And I would really love to hear some of your songs someday, too, by the way…)
